Turning Trash into Treasure!🗑️FPS middle school GT students teamed up with the City of Fayetteville Arkansas Government and conservation partners to collect trash from Lake Fayetteville, and turned it into an amazing sculpture of a gar, Arkansas’s state primitive fish! 🐟♻️
High school students built the metal frame, and the final piece came together at McNair Middle School before traveling to John L Colbert Middle School, Holt Middle School, and the Fayetteville Public Library, where it’ll be on display all summer. 🎉
Next stop: a statewide tour with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission! 🚌🌎

Last weekend, Fayetteville High School hosted the VEX V5 Robotics Competition, where 38 high school and 15 middle school teams from across the region competed in intense 2v2 robot battles! Organized by DogByte Robotics, the event showcased creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving as students worked with mentors to design and build innovative robots. 🌍🤖
Seven of our highschool teams made it to elimination rounds and one made it to semifinals. Three district middle school teams made it to elimination rounds with one making it to semifinals. Middle School Team 7187R, the "High Steaks" team, qualified for the State Championship in March.
A special thanks to the over 150 dedicated volunteers that kept the competition running smoothly.
Congratulations to all teams, and thank you to everyone who made this event possible! 🌟
